An Urgent Call to Leadership for New Social Strategies

This is an important time for humanity, perhaps a most pivotal one. More people than ever before are making spiritually aligned and integral choices for themselves and the planet. Yet there is virtually no infrastructure to encourage and nourish this new consciousness in a material way.

Why is this? A few factors may begin to explain. In the U.S. and many other countries, there is a challenging institutionalized illusion: the legal imperative that there be separation of church and state and the generalized equating of spirituality with religion (and thereby church), leaving spirituality no place in governing society. Add to this the sheer materialism of modern cultural exchanges, mix with the rejection of wealth and power by good people of "righteous" hearts and minds, and we have quite a dilemma. Given the situation, however, how can humanity afford not to invest in an enlightened future?

A new set of spiritually aligned leaders -- young and old -- needs to be encouraged and assisted in every way possible to integrate spiritually awakened consciousness and dedication to global awakening with the benefit of solid experience in the world. The needs of a growing spiritual awakening require structures and processes designed to conduct this new energy and manifest its work in the world. The structures of the past cannot be expected to serve this function. It is not unlike having a high electrical potential and non-existent or poor conductors; the result is the same -- the potential energy cannot do useful work and remains at the level of potential.

We believe that even a modest number of spiritually aware leaders, aligned with a coherent and focused purpose, has the potential to produce some very powerful results -- results that could catalyze many who are truly looking for a new way forward.

A new fabric for human society -- a new infrastructure, one intended to facilitate in every way possible an emerging new consciousness and to materially aid the manifesting of a more positive and compassionate future -- is most needed now. This represents "bridging suffering with awakening."

How can this come about? We believe that creating a context large enough to embrace a wide spectrum of expression for alignment with higher consciousness is essential. Such a context have the capacity to embrace -- from a third or higher perspective -- the predominant polarities in the world. This is very different than mediating between them. Such a vast context also needs to embrace all levels of society -- from the highest levels of social institutions to any ordinary person -- and must involve youth in equal leadership.

To accomplish this, we are offering a general strategy under the name of Decade Of The Heart. We also propose that forgiveness be its initial focus to help humanity start moving beyond social and inter-personal polarities to a greater unity consciousness.

All of us to whom this initial call is directed share a common desire to offer humanity inspiration and resources with which to create a more enlightened future based on spiritual, social, and planetary awakening. We each have the benefit of extensive personal and social practices that have helped us in our respective work encouraging this great consciousness shift. There are ample and abundant resources in the world; what there is not present yet is a coherent center and a coherent intention to anchor a coherent field for a global awakening.

We believe this is our next step, one that will require new structures and processes designed to facilitate nothing less than a global awakening.

There are now the obvious imperatives: a growing new consciousness and even greater opportunity to create new structures and processes for all of humanity who so choose, to consciously allow their innate nature as spiritual beings to come to the fore. From this, we can create a truly enlightened future together.
